Poker Rich List
The really rich poker lists are the online boomers. People like Anurag Dikshit who in 1998 wrote the coding to power Party Poker. In 2009 Dikshit had an estimated net worth of $1 billion. Or IBM programmer Isai Scheinberg who in 2000 helped his son Mark form PYR software, launching Poker Stars. In 2009 Poker Stars estimated net worth was more than $10 billion. But this is a REAL poker site, not a geeks convention! Our poker rich list unearths the real poker bankers. Gary Loveman and the WSOP Caesars Entertainment Corporation (CEC), formerly Harrah's Entertainment from 1995 to 2010, generates annual sales of $8.9 billion. CEC is the owner of the World Series of Poker and the largest gaming company in the World. In 2011 Gary Loveman is President of Caesars. In 2008 Loveman's annual earnings topped $39 million. It was estimated Loveman received $94 million in the 2010 buy out by Texas Pacific Group and Apollo Management Group. Loveman is not a big gambler, but is a huge force in the real poker World. Ruth Parasol and Party Gaming In 2009 PartyGaming bought the World Poker Tour for $12.3 million. The business was co-founded in 2000 by Ruth Parasol, now one of the richest self-made women in the World, with an estimated net worth in 2010 of $1.3 Billion.
Despite the online poker reference, Parasol is definately not a geek. She made her first fortune in the 1990's managing online adult sites. She is fiercely protective of her privacy, with just one up to date photo widely available. However, personally we prefer this one from back in the day! She is now heavily involved in philanthropy. Parasol is the greatest woman in poker. Stanley Ho and Macau Poker Dr Stanley Ho is founder of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM), which in 2011 is the largest casino operator in Macau. The gambling revenue for Macau in 2010 was over $23 billion, making the region the biggest market in the World. In 1962 Stanley Ho was awarded a monopoly gaming license for Macau. For over 40 years he controlled the region's gaming industry before the Chinese increased these licenses to six. Today SJM casinos still lead the roaring poker tiger. In 2010 Forbe's estimated Stanley Ho's net worth at $3.1 Billion. The poker rich understandably like their anonymity, which is much easier to maintain in these days of public stock market listings and private equity investment. In addition many of the pioneers of the modern poker industry have chosen to become passive shareholders or sold their stake to do more charitable endeavors. |
